The bikini, as we know it today was invented by Frenchman Louis Réard in 1946. It was named after the Bikini Atoll in the pacific, a site for nuclear testing. The reasoning was that this new fashion would explode on the market like a nuclear bomb!
Different types:
- the bikini: covering the boobs and the groin, and leaving an area of flesh in between
- the monokini: optional covering of the breasts
- the G-string: exposing the butt
- the micro bikini: where minimalism is of the essence, and our personnal favorite!
